However, some persons, allowed, or open to choices, become abusive and even lethal in view of their obsessive nature, not by virtue of the accessibility of certain foods/substances or behaviors nor by ignorance of proper nutritional choices, but by their choice of particular substances/foods to satisfy their emotional craving.       In North America especially, there is an increasing trend toward blaming others for personal choices.     Obsessing is succumbing and surrendering to emotions while removing rational thought - coupled with a lack of 'responsibility' to make choices that will benefit one, overall.  Many forget, or are willing to overlook that emotions are a form of communication that adds a dimension to responsible decisions. For example; an individual is afraid to confront a situation. However, they know it is in their best interest to do so. In their self-talk, they acknowledge their fear and respect the place/impact the fear is having on their thinking and options for success. From there, they can promise to be gentle in their approach and decision, knowing that despite their fear it is in their best interest to correct or change the situation at this time. It is called, being a responsible or mature adult. It can be difficult to implement but is vital, nonetheless.
